Proved vs. Proven

    I'm not awake enough to think of the reasons and proper labels, but to me, proved is a verb form, and proven, an adjective. There's probably more to it though.

    A proven theory.

    Einstein proved that...

      That makes sense to me, though I have seen them used inconsistently and interchangeably...I was starting to think it was me!

    yes, 'proved' past-tense verb; proven 'adjective'
    but also 'has proven (many times over)' emphasises repetition better than 'he proved many times'
    'sall i can think of...
